Roadmap

Since the release of Winter Resort Simulator on 12 December 2019, we have continued developing new features for WRS. Still, we have some more plans on what we will implement into the game in the course of the next weeks and months. It has become more and more frequently that we have been asked what is currently in development, so we have finally decided to publish this page here.

We will make sure to update it from time to time, so it may pay off to check it out regularly.

Future Plans

We can confirm that these features will be implemented into the game, but we cannot yet announce a fixed point in time for release.

  • Configurable vehicle prefabs (i.e. you can select a customisation of a specific vehicle)
  • Placeable vehicles (Placeable snow cannons!)
  • NPC Editor - this one will enable you to have visible skiers on custom maps. However, please understand that this is not a small feature, but rather a fundamental change of the game's NPC system.

Currently, there is also a 3rd Party Technoalpin DLC in development. Please note that, as the name states, this is not developed by us, but by an independent development studio! More details on that will be announced by Aerosoft.

Requests

Many features are requested every day. We are considering to implement some of the features in the list below. However, they may still be dropped - so please respect that all features here are not yet confirmed.

Work in Progress

Following requests are currently work in progress and will be contained in one of the next publicbeta updates (not necessarily the subsequent one).

  • Bugfixes regarding ingame editor and experimental mapsizes
  • More clarity for unexperienced users while editing savegames (i.e. better comments on that)
  • more to be announced ;-)

Update 8 (16 May 2020)

Highlights

  • Placeable vehicles are now possible and these can be bought via the shop!
  • Vehicles can be customized (if supported by the vehicle type)
  • Huge improvements of ingame editor (better shortcuts, better handling of gizmos, improved UI, clone-in-place function, smooth now fills the edges of the map, removing of tree collisions now actually works, and many more)
  • .bin files of savegames are automatically backuped after each successful start
  • Experimental map sizes now fully supported

Bugfixes

  • Deprecated resetSavegames are not automatically removed upon editing a ropeway
  • Dorfbahn AI fixed (thanks @clemens2600 for pointing us to the issue)
  • Support number labels will no longer shine bright at night
  • Fixed a localisation bug in Kristallexpress mountain station
  • Fixed a visual bug in Kristallexpress valley station, leading to a floating part.
  • Fixed a double control switch in Stubhornbahn valley station
  • Fixed the bug that caused ropeways to have a wrong line load after loading a savegame (thereby fixing wrong sheave batteries on track)
  • Fixed the bug that some lifts did not recognise the correct number of passengers per carrier, thereby resulting in wrong capacity figures
  • Fixed the bug that carrier count was not adjusted properly when moving stations in edit mode
  • Important: Grooming issues fixed if terrain offset is not zero.
  • Fixed the minor bug that skiers walked on top delivery packages or control elements.
  • Fixed missing box collider of object named toolbox02.
  • Fixed an error with the terrain replace tool on rescaled maps.
  • Fixed an error when placing trees onto rescaled terrains.
  • Camera cannot flip over in editor controller any more
  • Fixed an error that rarely objects could not be placed any more.
  • Fixed the issue that skiers did not enter ropeways when the player moved away.
  • Fixed an issue when loading ropeway doors.
  • Fixed an issue with loading of control switches in ropeway savegames that caused the game to crash on some savegames.
  • Double object beachChair03 removed
  • Fixed a bug that floating ropeway stations could not be moved any more.
  • Fixed a rare issue that caused the TGD top station to stop its conveyors.
  • Carriers parked in a station will no longer cause costs (fixes a bug with unreasonable costs of the TGD)
  • Weather should now be fine in any in-game editor.
  • Skiers will now be despawned instead on riding closed slopes.
  • Double localisation texts removed
  • Error messages when a ropeway was resetted by AI fixed.
  • Slight ugliness in the tutorial's red grooming border fixed. Should look prettier now.
  • Skier and spectator controller are paused upon opening main menu.
  • Fixed a bug that resulted in locked controls when loading a savegame that was saved while skiing.
  • Fixed a bug that made it impossible to connect the rope winch to an anchor point if the game was saved and reloaded while carrying the rope.
  • Fixed a rotation and scaling issue of the alpine hut object
  • Vehicle scripts only react to input when escape menu is closed.
  • Snow blade of Pistenbully 100 and 600 is no longer initialized in lower position, thereby improving steering when the blade is not moved.
  • Fixed any bugs regarding offset and rescaled maps that were known to use. Grooming will now work fine and some performance issues with high offsets have been fixed as well.

And finally, most interesting: New Features

  • Savegames will now contain comments for easier navigation. We hope this will help you in modifying and debugging your savegames.
  • Rebuild-function on the documentation page of Doppelmayr Connect HMI. Allows you to completely rebuild the ropeway, thereby fixing some errors that cannot be fixed by just resetting it.
  • Player cannot get lost outside custom maps (will be teleported back to the map)
  • Lost vehicles (out of bounds) are automatically sold.
  • Lost delivery packages are automatically refunded.
  • Added slope markers with arrow signs (instead of figures only)
  • Missing objects will no longer be deleted if they cannot be found. Note that this does not apply to vehicles or ropeways, but only to ingame editor prefabs.
  • Workshop Upload UI improved (uploaded mods can now be accessed in-game via the Steam browser)
  • Improved lua editor printing
  • The name signs of ropeways in the parking area will now be adjusted to the ropeway's custom name
  • Modders, check this out: lualog.txt will now contain ALL C# Exceptions or error messages caused on the main thread. This will help you a great deal debugging your own mods!
  • Additional lua-side sanity checks for mis-structured inputs.
  • Modders, that's also for you: Doppelmayr Connect acceleration and deceleration values can be customized for each ropeway type now.
  • Smooth and Smooth++ now also cover the last pixel on the map edge. Hope this helps, mappers!
  • Improved skier NPC behaviour: Instead of doing useless stuff like swarming around or getting stuck, they will instead just despawn.
  • Hallstein Logos of ropeway carriers are automatically removed on non-Hallstein maps and can be disabled if desired.
  • Huge ingame editor improvements, mostly focusing on object mode and including better shortcuts and a clone-in-place function. Also improved overall editor handling A LOT.
  • Placement of supports in ropeway ingame editor was improved.
  • Savegame .bin files will now be automatically backuped when the game was loaded successfully. This should avoid any issues with lost savegames.
  • Deleted lifts will no longer be shown in the investment page
  • Ropeway controls will not be updated if the lifts haven't been bought (yields some performance improvement on large maps where the player didn't buy some of the lifts)
  • EcoSystem will show the figures of the previous day in the right-hand column.
  • Tree colliders will now be dynamically adjusted. The times with non-removable tree collisions on Hallstein are over, and so are the times of maps without any tree collisions!
  • Placeable and customizable vehicles added (see highlights section)
  • LMB, MMB and RMB in terrain editor clarified for all users. Those keys (amongst others) can also be remapped via escape menu now.
  • Trees on non-Hallstein maps are no longer static, these will react to wind now as well.
  • Show-off object for placeable and customizable vehicles: placeable winch anchor points. Have a look at them yourself and don't hesitate to use these features in mods!
  • Object-mode gizmos will always be placed on an object's pivot now. This should make it easier to place fences.
  • Slope markers no longer have any collisions

Some technical remarks

  • Removed some deprecated Lua API functions. None of them was in use by a mod, so don't worry.
  • Do not access PlayerController, please use g_scenario.player instead.
  • Do not access Environment, please use g_scenario.environment instead. (Important for changing the day time!)
  • Better error handling in Animation lua functions such as Animation.getLength(). This should make it way easier to debug.
  • Also speaking of debugging ALL C# exceptions will now be pushed to the lualog.txt. Should make it a lot easier to debug mods.

Publicbeta (coming to main version)

All features below have already been released in the Public Beta version of the game. Once these are out of beta status, they will be available in the main version of the game.

Update 7 (6 March 2020)

Highlights

  • Modding SDK v3 - including a full 4-CLF sample mod lift!
  • Experimental map sizes implemented - check out the tutorial!
  • Newly built ropeways will be automatically registered into the eco system!
  • Automated ropeway operation was heavily improved, especially for B/C/D spacing configuration in custom ropeways
  • Dynamic camera physics can be turned off in Gameplay settings

Bugfixes

  • Modding SDK: Many new objects (control room, slope markers, access portals, signposts, access gates, nets)
  • Modding SDK: Ropeway control panels now included
  • Fixed a bug regarding ropeway announcements that was introduced in Update 6.
  • Fixed a bug regarding exterior cameras of ropeway stations that was introduced in Update 6.
  • Fixed a bug that resulted in wrong displayed capacities of ropeways
  • Fixed the bug that capacity changed when editing an existing lift. Finally got you!
  • Changing a ropeway type to a modded ropeway will now keep the supports in place
  • Savegame Loading is now more robust
  • Fixed a minor wrong spline assignment in Dorfbahn parking while operating in reverse mode.

New Features

  • Newly built ropeways will automatically garage first, and then feed again if necessary. This is required for technical reasons.
  • Volume of UI sounds can be reduced
  • Cancelling the edit mode of a ropeway will restore the previous state (ropeway will no longer be deleted)
  • All 5 default ropeways are now working with all possible spacings with every possible carrier count! (Btw, that was a lot of work.)
  • Kristallexpress B/C/D spacings improved
  • Modded ropeways can now be labelled
  • Added some more log error messages for better error fixing in mods
  • Zooming in some UI menus improved
  • Objects below -2,500 m will be automatically removed to avoid physics errors
Update 6 (14 Feb 2020)

Highlights
